The Special Olympics of Georgia Regional Tournament is set to return to the UGA Golf Course on March 25, 2024. This event will be the first Special Olympics Golf Tournament of the year and is open to all Special Olympics athletes across the state.

Founded by Dave Davis, The Kathy B. Davis Foundation is proudly sponsoring this tournament for individuals with intellectual challenges. Davis’ dedication to the Special Olympics was inspired by his son's participation and led to the establishment of The Kathy B. Davis Foundation in loving memory of his wife.

The Foundation aims to enhance the lives of individuals with intellectual challenges through sports and activities such as the Special Olympics golf clinics. These programs have played a huge role in introducing athletes to the game and preparing them for competitive play.

“With steadfast support from Matt Peterson and the entire UGA community, the tournament continues to grow,” said Davis, “We’re able to continue providing athletes with a platform to showcase their skills.”

For the past 12 years, the Foundation has awarded the KBDF Adam Holland Special Education Scholarships to students in several colleges in Tennessee and Georgia, including UGA. This scholarship, named in honor of a lifelong friend of Dave’s son, has been granted annually to deserving students.

Last year, UGA was a recipient of one of these scholarships. The Foundation will continue this tradition by presenting UGA with another scholarship this year.

In alignment with the mission of the UGA Golf Course, the Special Olympics is fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for athletes of all abilities. To learn more or donate, visit specialolympicsga.org.
