On Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024, the University of Georgia Golf Course hosted Destination Dawgs, a University of Georgia program that helps students with intellectual disabilities learn and grow their skills in various areas.
Special Olympics Return to UGA Golf Course
The Special Olympics of Georgia Regional Tournament is set to return to the UGA Golf Course on March 25, 2024. This event will be the first Special Olympics Golf Tournament of the year and is open to all Special Olympics athletes across the state.

On July 10, 2023, the University of Georgia Golf Course hosted a Special Olympics of Georgia Regional Tournament. With over 100 supporters, friends, and family members, the event provided an excellent opportunity for everyone to get outside, get active, and connect with each other.
Golf's Boom and Its Effect on Turf
I have a feeling that I do not need to tell you that golf is doing really well right now. I am sure you are having to be diligent when booking your tee time since they are in such high demand. The increased traffic on the course presents some unique challenges for us. One of those challenges is the stress placed on the turf from increased cart and foot traffic. We have employed several strategies to create a balance in order to prevent loss of turf on the course while maintaining patron satisfaction.

Scott Griffith Wins Environmental Leadership Award
A premier public course, the University of Georgia's Golf Course prides itself on its commitment to environmental stewardship, water management, and sustainability. No one knows this better than the Golf Course's Superintendent, Scott Griffith. Recently, Scott was awarded the Environmental Leadership Award on behalf of the Georgia Golf Course Superintendents Association (GGCSA) for his efforts in creating a template that sets a standard for best practices in the state.
